Elfriede Short

Elfriede was born and raised in Detmold, near Minden, Germany. In her early years, she studied with prominent German artists. In 1962 she married Russ Short and traveled with him in the Air Force until 1974 when they moved to the Carson Valley area.

Originally painting solely in oils, she has since expanded her talents to include watercolors, acrylics and pastels. She is well known in the area for her hand painted Christmas ornaments and wooded Easter eggs, and has added porcelain tile to her portfolio. She enjoys working on landscapes, flowers, wildlife, and birds. But she has been caught painting cars and pets unpon request. Elfiede is a member of the Carson Valley Art Association and is a Charter member of the East Fork Artists.
